Plans and pricing
What does OptionKrafter cost?
Four plans: Free at $0, Starter at $9/month, Pro at $19/month, and Power at $39/month. Yearly billing is $90, $190, and $390 respectively — two months free versus paying monthly. Applicable taxes may be added. The pricing page lists every limit per plan.
Is there a free plan, and does it need a credit card?
Yes — the Free plan is $0 forever and needs no credit card. It includes 5 backtests per month, 1 year of backtest history, 2 saved strategies, and the same full US ticker universe as every paid plan.
How does the free trial work?
Pro and Power offer a 30-day free trial. A card is collected at signup but $0 is charged that day; the first charge happens at the trial end date unless you cancel before it — canceling during the trial means you pay nothing. Each account is eligible for at most one trial.
How do I cancel, and are payments refundable?
Cancel any time in the Stripe billing portal (Settings → Billing → "Manage in Stripe"). You keep paid access until the end of the current billing period, then move to the Free plan. Subscription payments — monthly and annual alike — are nonrefundable except where the law requires or a billing error occurred; see the Terms of Use.
Data and coverage
What data do backtests use?
Real historical option chains — not model-generated prices — going back to 2008, at end-of-day resolution, plus 1-minute option trade bars from April 2023 onward. Market data is provided by Intrinio. The data-coverage study documents the floor and the thin stretches.
Is backtesting minute by minute?
Yes, for backtest windows starting April 2023 or later: those evaluate minute by minute automatically on paid plans — there is no setting to choose. Earlier windows, Wheel strategies, and the Free plan evaluate end-of-day. Every run is stamped with the resolution it used.
Which tickers can I backtest?
All US tickers. If it trades options on a US exchange you can backtest it — small caps, recent listings, thinly covered ETFs included.
How much history does each plan allow?
Free reaches back 1 year, Starter 3 years, Pro 7 years, and Power the full history since 2008.
Are the stock quotes real-time?
No — quotes across the app are approximately 15 minutes delayed, and the UI labels this. Live options data is end-of-day. OptionKrafter is an analytical tool, not a trading terminal.
How results are computed
How are fills modeled?
Each option leg fills a disclosed fraction of the way across the day's closing bid–ask spread (defaults 0.75 for 1-leg down to 0.53 for 4-leg strategies, configurable per strategy). Every run shows two numbers: realistic (modeled fills plus commissions — the headline) and optimistic (the same trades at pure mid, reference only), and stamps the assumptions it used. Can I backtest the wheel strategy?
Yes — the full cycle is simulated: selling cash-secured puts, assignment, holding shares, selling covered calls, and call-away, with an optional cost-basis floor. Wheel backtests run at end-of-day resolution.
Can I describe a strategy in plain English?
Yes. Describe-to-AI parses a description like "conservative wheel on SPY, 3% OTM, last year" into a filled strategy draft that you review and edit before saving — the AI never runs anything on its own.
The product and the company
Does OptionKrafter place real trades?
No. OptionKrafter is not a broker and does not connect to one. Krafter Bots paper-trade only: simulated fills, simulated capital, delayed data. No real money can move.
What is a Krafter Bot?
An automated paper-trader that follows the same rule language as backtests, evaluating its conditions every 5 minutes during regular market hours on ~15-minute-delayed data. It is a way to watch a strategy's rules operate forward in time — simulated only.
